Moon ElfAbout Moon Elves Black Elves weren't archers and mages like their Light Elf brethren, but rather masters of stonework, mining and metal work. In an ancient war, the entire race of Black Elves was forced to fight in a massive battle. On Earth, the armies of Black Elves were split apart. Most of the Black Elves either fled to the Eastern Forests or into the Mountains, where they eventually sired the Dwarven race. Those that did have talent in magic took to the barren ice-covered lands and became the Snow Elves. The Black Elves who took refuge in the forests east of the MIdgardian battlegrounds were estranged in a land not their own. Unable to return home to Svartalfheim, they settled and began forming their Midgardian community. Still in danger from the aftermath of the war with the Dark Elves, the Black Elves began crafting immense numbers of weapons and defensive items for the war. While other races and cultures thrived during the day, ill prepared for combat with the nocturnal Dark Elves, the Black Elves had no qualms with a nocturnal lifestyle. Changing their tactics, the Black Elves of the East Forest turned to Máni, the god of the moon, to guide them. Moon Elves are direct descendants of the Black Elves, adapted to forest life after many centuries.
Moon Elves are masterful weapon-smiths, being responsible for many sword designs still used to this day. Feeling little connection to the trees, they are unlike other elves in that they have no qualms building their homes from downed trees. Masterful hunters, almost any weapon is an instrument of death in the hands of a Moon Elf. They are highly loyal to Máni the god of the moon, and will even kill in his name. Distrusting of other races, they can stay quite isolated. When a moon elf does study magic, they are known to dedicate themselves to the art whole-heartedly, making masterful warlocks and sorcerers. Moon Elves have spent so much time living a nocturnal lifestyle that they are prone to mild sun-blindness. Elves mate for life, they may go hundreds of years before falling in love, but once they do, they will stay with their partner for eternity. Some exceptions occur, but rarely. Elves have an extremely low birth rate, as females only cycle once every four years.
